You'll get the star treatment at Colorado's Starlite Classic Campground, where you can enjoy concierge service, million dollar views and stay in a trailer straight out of the movies. Remember Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz as first-time owners on their honeymoon, wrestling with a massive vehicle in "The Long, Long Trailer?" The same 1954 New Moon model can be rented at the campground, along with other retro models, for a vacation that harks back to the good old days. You can still join in the fun in a tent, your own RV or a cabin. Make a reservation now using the convenient online system.

On the horizon is the breathtaking Royal Gorge Bridge, one of the world's highest suspension bridges, rising at more than 900 feet above the Arkansas River. Drive or walk across it, then enjoy the rides, shows and attractions in the park around it. See the gorge from a different viewpoint by taking the train that follows the Arkansas River or zip line above it. Experience the rugged beauty of Colorado by white-water rafting, hiking and horseback riding. Starlite's concierge service can assist you in finding the best way to spend your vacation, from making dinner reservations to planning a full schedule of activities.

Take part in all Starlite has to offer, including the swimming pool, horseshoes, mini golf and volleyball. Dress in your finest and you could take home the Trailer Trash Queen crown during the "Trailer Trash Bash," hosted by the Southwest Vintage Camper Association. The annual event in August features an open house of vintage campers and a swap meet. Come visit Starlite for some old-time fun!

Directions:    located just west of Canon City, CO at the intersection of Highway 50 and County Road 3A (at the Turnoff to the Royal Gorge Bridge). We are just two hours from downtown Denver, 45 minutes from Colorado Springs and 30 minutes from Pueblo.

Unique Campground

This campground accommodates RVs and tents and it features rentals of "classic" campers as well as cabins. The hosts are welcoming but guard their grounds well. The grounds could use some weeding, but the quirkiness of the place truly made the weekend a unique experience. As we saw RVs bypassing this place to KOA, we were rooting for our little campground to get more business over the Memorial Day weekend. The staff were great, bringing blocks of ice for the antique "ice box" in our "classic" camper, a heater after a cold night, and even offered to add my wet socks to their laundry. Wonderful place.
